Three months ago, I committed to showing up again—for myself, for Vivant, and for the creative vision that started it all. What followed has been a season of rebuilding: emotionally, financially, creatively. This wasn’t about a rebrand—it was about reclaiming the root of why Vivant exists.

It began with a whisper, a few raw notes from a field—literally and metaphorically. I wrote a blog, then another. I stood in the sun, barefoot in a field outside suburbs of Houston, trying to translate the feeling of becoming into words and images. It was never about perfection. It was about continuing, consistency and collaboration.

The Creative Work

Over the last three months, we published a series of written blogs, podcasts and photo shoots designed to bring life to the art and find clarity in our voice and brand. From honoring Haitian Naïve master Frito Bastien to featuring artists like Mary Lai and American Queen TJD, each visual and written piece was a part of stitching together who Vivant is today. We made deliberate choices on color, tone, themes, and pairings. Nothing was rushed. Everything was rooted.

We matched art with place—cultural-owned restaurants, Texas backdrops, and spaces that mirror the stories of our artists. I wanted the art to live off the wall, to breathe in context.

The Business Side No One Sees

Behind the scenes, this season required real investment. I poured thousands of dollars of my own money into photography, videography, web design updates, travel, and content production. No grants. No big corporate backers. Just belief, some strategy, and a lot of faith.

Finding the right creative partners was one of the biggest challenges. Some people flaked. Others didn’t see the vision. A few tried to charge premium rates with minimal delivery. I had to learn (again) how to protect the brand, protect my energy, and build with people who want to build something meaningful—not just transactional.

Eventually, I found collaborators who showed up with heart, flexibility, and skill. People who respected Vivant as more than a project. That made all the difference.

What I’ve Learned

  • Clarity takes time. Sometimes your voice doesn’t come from talking louder—it comes from standing still and listening longer.

  • Don’t wait for perfect conditions. I started shooting with what I had. Blogged when I wasn’t sure anyone was reading. Reposted when the algorithm felt dry. But I stayed consistent.

  • Every dollar counts. I now budget differently—prioritizing what feeds the vision and saying no to what’s just noise.

  • Art deserves dignity. That means taking the time to tell stories well. It also means pricing it appropriately, choosing quality presentation, and respecting the labor behind the brushstroke.

  • Community matters more than audience. I’m not building for followers. I’m building for collectors, artists, and those who see culture as a living, breathing thing.

What’s Next

This isn’t the end of a season—it’s the foundation. I’m still learning, still testing, still becoming. But Vivant has a voice again. Not soft, but sovereign. Not curated for clicks, but curated for connection.

To every small business owner, creative, or art lover trying to find their voice—know this: the field may feel lonely, but it’s fertile. Keep planting. Keep pruning. Keep blooming.

And when the wind shifts, shift with it—but never by accident.

Keep Vivant.
